The Pros and Cons of CBD

People have been consuming CBD products for several years now, yet there are still many misconceptions about this compound. People often assume that CBD is the same thing as marijuana; other people simply don't know what CBD is or how it works. Here are five common misconceptions about CBD:

CBD is the same thing as marijuana. In a recent study, the authors found that CBD significantly reduced the inflammatory response in immune-compromised mice. The study found that CBD reduced the inflammatory response by blocking three out of four distinct inflammatory markers in the mice studied, including interleukins (which causes inflammation) and T cells (which cause tumors and inflammation). The researchers conclude that CBD may have potential as a new treatment for human inflammatory diseases, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. CBD can cause anxiety or panic attacks. This study did not find any evidence to support the claim. However, the researchers did find that CBD activated neuroendocrine pathways in the brain, which may account for its mood-altering properties. Because CBD has similar properties to endorphins (which are substances that create a feeling of euphoria and relaxation), it may produce similar effects in humans that are believed to contribute to the symptoms of anxiety and panic attacks.

CBD is a treatment for epilepsy. There is some evidence that CBD may help relieve the symptoms of epilepsy. A study published in Clinical EEG found that patients given CBD had lower ratings of stress, anxiety and depression than patients given placebos. But the research on the benefits of CBD for post-traumatic stress disorder is still controversial.

CBD is an alternative to traditional anti-seizure medication. Since CBD is a psychoactive substance, it can be very dangerous if not taken properly. People who take too much CBD are likely to have negative side effects. People with epilepsy are particularly at risk because their seizures can occur at any time. A good recommendation for people with epilepsy and PTSD is to speak with their doctor and consider all available options. Read more information concerning the pros and cons of cbd products here.

There are some side effects associated with CBD that you should be aware of. If you are pregnant or nursing, you should avoid cannabis and any other psychoactive substance use while you are pregnant. While nursing, keep in mind that your body is less able to handle the psychoactive effects of CBD, so it could cause sleeplessness, depression, irritability, agitation, nausea, and drowsiness. Always talk with your doctor before taking anything new, including CBD. Find out more about this topic, click here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabis.
