CBD Products - Not Just For Medical Purposes

What are CBD products? Well, that depends on who you ask. For those who know of CBD, it is an entirely natural component found in marijuana. In fact, it is the only ingredient found in a pot that does not cause smoking-related lung damage and is not a psychoactive substance at all! That certainly explains why it is so frequently used as a healing element in alternative medicines and aromatherapy.

Cannabidiol is simply a phytocannabinoid found in old Michigan pottery. It's one of the fewer a dozen known active phytocannabinoids in cannabis plants, accounts for more than 40% of the whole plant's weight and is one of the most important of the handful of known natural cannabinoids. Other names for CBD include Cannabidiol (sometimes Cannabidiols) or Ephedra (the brand name for a pharmaceutical product made from extracted CBD). In addition to these two major brands of CBD extracts, there are other less well known suppliers. Some of these less well-known suppliers include Bigelow Pharmaceuticals and Invitrogen, which are currently under investigation for using human studies with regard to the use of CBD for treating breast cancer and its anti-androgenic properties. CBD is believed by many people to be the most powerful "cannabis" substance around, though others dispute this. Nevertheless, many medical practitioners believe that CBD has exceptional benefits for various medical and neurological conditions. In addition to being effective against nausea, depression, seizures, mania and schizophrenia, CBD has also been shown to help with Crohn's Disease (intestinal disease) and some forms of arthritis. Some medical researchers think that CBD might even be effective in treating certain forms of cancer. While there is much that is still unknown about CBD and the medical benefits attributed to it, cannabidiol tinctures have begun to be used by a wide range of health practitioners and individuals as an herbal supplement. CBD is believed by many experts to have the effect of making symptoms of certain diseases less severe, such as those associated with Crohn's Disease, or with certain forms of arthritis. Some of these ailments include edema (swelling of the legs), inflammation, joint pain, cramping, and loss of appetite. Because CBD has not been found to produce adverse side effects in most people, it is being studied by a growing number of researchers who are investigating the potential usefulness of CBD and other Cannabinoids for treating these and other medical conditions.

No product contains all of the beneficial chemicals that make up CBD; some of the other Cannabinoids are present in higher concentrations and in higher quality dietary supplements. What the manufacturer of a CBD product may not disclose is the exact levels of CBD, cannabidiol tincture, THC, CBD in their product. Generally, a product contains up to twenty-three milligrams of one or more of the Cannabinoids, including CBD.

While CBD is not considered to be a "cure" for any disease or ailment, it is being studied for its possible medical uses. Some companies are researching the use of cannabidiol for depression and anxiety reduction and some companies are researching the use of CBD for substance abuse and addiction. In Canada alone, there are approximately six clinical trials underway. Currently, it is illegal to sell CBD products in the state of Florida, although hemp for medical purposes is legal in that state. Currently, four states have legalized the production and distribution of CBD extracts: Hawaii, Arizona, Illinois, and New Mexico. The federal government has not released guidelines or laws regarding the production, possession, and sale of CBD products.
