One of the biggest benefits of growing industrial hemp is that it is grown without the use of GMP (genetically modified organism) technology. Many countries such as India and China have banned the use of GMP in agriculture, but hemp growers in the United States have not. However, it should be noted that the United States Government has not approved the use of GMP in the cultivation, production, distribution, or consumption of any product containing genetic engineering techniques. This means that virtually any company that grows GMP-grown hemp can use the term 'organic' on their labels, even if the product is not organic.

There have also been efforts in the united states to support organic agricultural hemp production. The United States Government has supported the construction of nationwide organic programs and in addition to this the federal government is offering financial assistance to help state farmers develop commercial hemp production. Many state agricultural programs are funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Many farmers are eligible for financial assistance through the United States Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Service (USDA), and some of these farmers have been receiving increased crop assistance as a result. In addition to the USDA providing financial assistance to commercial hemp production, there are also numerous other third party organizations that provide hemp industry structure to farmers growing the crop in accordance with organic agricultural standards. For example, there are several state agricultural programs administered by the North Carolina department of agriculture. Among these are the Certified Organic Wheat and Feed program which require each registered farmer to meet a set of requirements before the hemp can be marketed. This is the same standard used in organic agricultural programs throughout the rest of the country.

The United States National Drug Treatment Center also recognizes the beneficial aspects of cultivating cannabis for industrial purposes, stating, "The controlled manufacture of pharmaceuticals is now underway for the development of medical marijuana". When compared to the pharmaceuticals produced from natural sources like the hemp plant, the cannabis plant is more effective in the formation of certain cancer drugs like THC and CBD. However, the United States government does not consider cannabis to be an alternative to pharmaceuticals. They state, "Any scientifically recognized form of the cannabis plant including its components, such as THC and CBD, do not have any medical use beyond their indicated medicinal purposes". Despite this fact, the government continues to support farmers growing the cannabis plant for both medicinal and recreational uses as long as it is strictly regulated according to state laws.

The demand for CBD has skyrocketed over the past few years as more states across the country have legalized the cultivation of this rare herb. For this reason alone, many investors have decided to cash in on the growing trend of growing hemp for the production of CBD by using innovative methods. One such method that has been utilized is known as molecular distillation. This method involves using hemp seeds or plants containing high amounts of CBD as a base medium instead of water. The end result is a highly concentrated form of CBD that can be used as a topical painkiller, without the ingestion of any harmful allergens or toxins found in pharmaceutical medications.
